9x12 mixed media.2010

Some of the media used in this project was graphite and charcoal on 9x12 paper. Then painted in parts with acrylic paint using a smudge stick instead of a brush, because there wasn’t one around. Finally, the image was shot with a camera and edited in Ps. In Ps there was about four layers that were finally flattened and cropped. After sharpening the original chose the color select to adjust the vibrance and saturation of the paint.

After using loose and fast strokes with charcoal the drawing looked frayed and bold with the black outlines and I considered it a "beast" for fauvism. Originally the idea was a simple design of a TIC TAC TOE game. Drawn with a soft pencil in one hand and a harder pencil in the other, the shapes were meant to fill the page. The circle won the diagonal line from right to left. So I was considering this to be more of a brain exercise more from memory I tried to add another analytic cubist feature by skewing a circular portion the layers. Some parts are studied within the image itself by dissecting layers.

The style is mostly similar to Analytic cubism with earthy hues. The analytic portion maybe not so much because there was no subject to study aside from the right side lighting at the time. The project was rushed and looks pretty sketchy. Also tried to create depth by using the blue paint to define the foreground and shading in the whole page for unity. The blue was meant to be telecommunication equipment from old landline phones and cellular phones with satellites and an antenna.
